The sixth annual initiative featured 132 events, 213 speakers and 122 participating organizations, with programming focused on practical climate solutions and community resilience

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 20, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Florida Climate Week 2026 expanded its statewide reach, engaging new communities and partners through 96 in-person events and 36 virtual sessions. Presented by VoLo Foundation, the sixth annual initiative brought together 213 speakers and 122 organizations across seven municipalities and counties.

AHAM Education Inc. (AHAM), organization in consultative status with the United Nations, in partnership with the Southeast Climate and Energy Network (SCEN), are hosting a Mindful Coastal Rehabilitation at the historically black beach – Von D. Mizell/Eula Johnson Clark State Park focused on the well-being of people and our natural ecosystems during Florida Climate Week.

This year’s programming reached new audiences through increased participation from birding groups, expanded arts programming and interactive events in communities that had never hosted FCW before, reflecting growing interest in climate action across Florida.

“This year’s Florida Climate Week was the most successful yet, a reflection of how many Floridians are ready to lead on climate,” said Thais Lopez Vogel, president of VoLo Foundation. “The VoLo team took part in the week’s activities and came away enriched, reminded that real progress is built on relationships. My hope is that this is not just a week of action, but the motivation to keep this momentum going all year long, and that the new friends we made become old friends and lasting participants.”

The 2026 initiative also marked a milestone with Florida Climate Week officially joining the Climate Week Network, a global coalition of city-led climate weeks working to strengthen and scale climate action worldwide.

Programming covered a broad range of environmental challenges and solutions, including endangered species, data centers, sea-level rise, coastal resilience, biochar, clean energy, water conservation and coastal ecosystems. Sessions also explored the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, green infrastructure and effective climate communications.

Events combined expert discussions and workshops with hands-on activities designed to connect climate science to everyday life.

Local governments and educational institutions were among the key partners in the statewide initiative. Government partners included the cities of Jacksonville, Orlando, St. Petersburg and Fort Lauderdale, as well as Orange, Hardee and Miami-Dade counties. Florida Gulf Coast University joined Florida Climate Week as an Official University Partner.

Through its statewide and virtual programming, Florida Climate Week connected participants with experts, local organizations and opportunities to strengthen their communities. The broader participation and expanded geographic reach highlighted the value of collaboration among residents, institutions and local leaders in advancing climate solutions throughout the year.
