HagEstad Law Group Welcomes Emily Bruner to the Team

Missoula, Montana Jul 21, 2026 (Issuewire.com) HagEstad Law Group, PLLC announces that Emily Bruner has joined the firm as an associate attorney in Montana. Her arrival expands the firm’s Montana attorney team and adds further support to the firm’s litigation practice.

Emily focuses her practice on insurance defense litigation. She is licensed in Montana and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, which allows her to appear in federal matters in the district in addition to Montana state courts. Insurance defense work covers a defined set of disputes, including questions of coverage and liability, the handling of claims, and the litigation that follows when those matters are contested. Emily represents insurers and the businesses and individuals they cover through each stage of that process, from early claim review through negotiation and, when a matter cannot be resolved, trial.

Emily earned her J.D. from the Alexander Blewett III School of Law at the University of Montana in 2022. Before that, she earned a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Montana School of Journalism in 2012 and spent the years between working in Missoula as a news reporter and later as a media sales manager. That earlier career left her comfortable working through interviews, records, and tight deadlines, which is useful in litigation, where a case often turns on the careful reading of a claim file or a timeline of events.

While in law school, Emily wrote “Krakauer II: Student Privacy Over Record Disclosure,” published in the Montana Law Review in 2021. The article examined questions of student privacy and record disclosure, and it reflects the kind of close research and careful writing that now support her litigation work.

Emily is a member of the State Bar of Montana. Her addition gives the firm another attorney based in Montana and adds capacity to its insurance defense and litigation practice, an area where demand from regional insurers and businesses continues to grow.
